On 29 March 2017, we sent a letter to all 81 Surrey County Councillors asking them to think upon what sort of legacy they want to leave for future generations, and to take action to prevent this pending disaster. It updates them about the parking charges and proposed play structures at Newlands Corner, and illegal activities taking place there.

That is a very good letter. I wholeheartedly endorse every word of it. Jumped up little numpties at SCC forget that they are public servants. Have they complied yet with the FOI requests to make available their so called ‘business plan’? Is that alone not grounds to seek temporary injunction through courts?

Thank you so much for all that you are doing to stop the desecration of Newlands Corner. Only this week we in contact with Graham Ellwood over his propaganda piece in the local Merrow Pages. It seems that despite the opposition to the proposed plans SCC seemed hell bent on pushing them through. So please keep up the good work. David & Jacqueline Potts

As I have said before there is no legal reason why SCC could not just give up the agreement as the reason for taking it on under the National Parks and Access to the Countryside Act 1949 was to guarantee public access [and no more]. This was superseded in 2006 with the Common Act which granted the same by statutue. So let them save the money they spend. Remember that 25% of the parking fees goes to the Duke of Northumberland Estate.

Well done, Sally, for an eloquent, heartfelt letter which was backed up with rigorous facts and figures. You speak for all of us who love this special place, and on behalf of those who have yet to discover its life-affirming beauty.
Thank you.

A Superb letter Sally ..
Wholeheartedly agree ..
Surrey County Council’s Environment, and Planning Committee are determined to go Against the mass Majority of the Public ..
They basically fail to understand the nature of Newlands Corner, .. it is NOT ‘ just a Car Park ‘
Newlands Corner is much MORE than that ..
It has and should continue to be a Free place for people to gather .. (free for 100 years )
For families, for a break for a Coffee, something to eat .. somewhere to take in a lovely view ..
Dog walkers, Horse riders, Hikers, Cyclists.. Motorcyclists and Vintage, Classic car Owner’s Clubs ..
and so much more ..
Newlands Corner stands as a Safe, and Idyllic Beauty spot to visit .. for everyone ..
I’m sure that it will continue to be .. regardless of the SCC .. whatever their proposals ..
