A recent communication from SCC continues to confirm its intention to generate an income stream at Newlands Corner from parking charges. The e-mail also says that charges will increase over time. However, it has not said whether these increases will be limited to inflation.
Additionally, it is unclear whether funds raised at Newlands Corner will be used to manage Newlands Corner alone, or will be used to fund the wider Countryside Estate.

They seem to chop and change from saying the charges would fund the maintenance of Newlands Corner to it will contribute to the Countryside Estate. What they never say is that the money from NC will be ring-fenced for Newlands Corner or that the income from the Countryside Estate in general will be ring-fenced for the Countryside Estate. In fact, getting them to say anything about who will collect/receive the money and how it will be distributed or used is like pulling teeth.

~ Well , as with charging for Dumping ‘extra’ DIY rubbish….
Mr Goodman has already stated in his letter to the Surrey Advertiser, the money will help with the costs for ‘Social Adult Care ‘ in Surrey ..
I’m convinced that SCC are committed to raising funds, by charging Car Parking fees at Newlands Corner for EXACTLY the same reason. ( of course SCC will not admit to it straight out )
– to pay for so many other Mandatory Services, SCC need to provide by Law .
It’s time that policy of raising funds for SCC’s wider budget , through Car Parking charges ..
is challenged and Stopped ..
I don’t believe that this SCC policy is sustainable..
KEEP fighting for Newlands Corner to remain Free from Car Parking charges..
Free for everyone ..!
